Environmental management can be understood as managing relationship with the environment, and training in the program introducing ideas, approaches and techniques for environmental management at individual, organisational and community levels. Recognizing that our understanding of human-environment relations is changing, this program combines conventional with innovative approaches to environmental management, including an approach to community participation which is taught through a series of group activities.
A prominent feature of Environmental Management programme is the HSE Course (Health Safety and Environment). Recognition and effective management of HSE risks/impacts is a fundamental requirement of companies operating in environmental management. This course provides participants with the underpinning knowledge on how to specify and implement an effective HSE management system at the technical level. The course is based upon a common HSE management system which explains the elements and their interaction. A variety of exercises and case studies based on on-shore and off-shore case studies, as well as readings and videos will be used to develop understanding and practice the skills. The HSE Course provides the underpinning knowledge for participants seeking first-step qualification..
